Eloping is it for you?
You're engaged and starting to think about wedding planning. It seems overwhelming and stressful and maybe you aren't 100% positive if a big traditional wedding is something you want. Not to mention 2020 happened and you watched your other friends stress out about rescheduling or canceling their weddings and possibly more than once…
But wait! There may be another option. Eloping!! Now you might ask what does eloping really mean??
Well by definition according to wikipedia “Elopement, colloquially speaking, is often used to refer to a marriage conducted in sudden and secretive fashion, usually involving a hurried flight away from one's place of residence together with one's beloved with the intention of getting married”
However, elopements have really taken off this past year and there are so many options when it comes to tying the knot in a small intimate way. Now you could be the adventitious couple who just wants it to be the two of you celebrating your love and would rather take away all the stress factors from a typical wedding day. Maybe this means you plan a trip somewhere you both want to visit and plan out a day of adventure and tying the knot in the most beautiful, epic scenery. Hey I don’t blame you at all! In Fact this is what my parents did. They traveled to Florida and didn't tell anyone and eloped on the beach just the two of them. Romantic no??
Now you can also make your elopement a little more inclusive by choosing a place to be married and inviting your closest friends and family. Typically this is around 20 people give or take but you get the idea. It’s your inner circle and the people you love most and want to share this experience with. It’s still emphasizing the two of you, your love and what truly matters when it comes to marriage vs throwing a party and making it more about the experience for everyone else.
Eloping means focusing on what is really important. You and your partner become one unit. Celebrating your love and all you have been through together to get to this moment. Don’t get me wrong I love traditional weddings but I have really grown to love the intimacy of small weddings and elopements and how easy and relaxed the process is on the couple. You really get to see them enjoy their wedding day and be focused on what really matters which is just the two of them.
Now I hope this helps you to see there are other options outside of a traditional wedding and maybe this little bit of information can help you determine what is best for you during this wedding planning journey.
