Emily & Ben’s Waverly Historic Mansion Wedding

Emily & Ben

Emily & Ben are one of the most amazing couples ever. They are so much fun to be around, super silly and their personalities are infectious. Emily is also a well known food blogger who posts amazing recipes and so much more.

Emily & Ben met back in highschool during a mixer at Calvert Hall, an all boys Catholic School in Baltimore MD. Emily said Ben got them in trouble and they were both sent to “dance jail” with the religion teacher until the end of the event. Emily said “I was furious, but I bet the teacher that I could beat him in a game of Go Fish (which he happily agreed to play) in exchange for our freedom. I ended up winning the game and we got to go home, and the rest is history” Emily and Ben are a very fun loving couple. Ben reminds me of a good old country boy who loves to joke around. Emily is a vibrant ball of energy that lights up any room when she walks in. Together they are silly and laugh a lot but they still love to be romantic and their love and warm personalities is super infectious to those around them.

Waverly Historic Mansion

Emily & Ben tied the knot this past September on the 7th at the beautiful, Waverly Historic Mansion which is a historic home located in Marriottsville in Howard County, MD. Waverly Mansion is a federal style stone house, covered with stucco. The couple picked the venue because they fell in love with the intimacy, the history of the building and the garden-scape of the grounds. Inside the Waverly they loved the staircase, the book shelves, and all of the historic furniture. They were excited how lush everything was outside on the grounds of the mansion. They said the ceremony location they could envision their photos and it was exactly what they wanted. Emily commented that the inspiration came from one of her favorite movies The Secret Garden.

Their vision for the wedding day was a romantic & timeless theme with a ton of greenery and hints of white, blush & gray that created a beautiful fine art look. The bridesmaids wore a whimsical dove gray and the guys looked dapper in their gray suits. The bride featured many timeless heirlooms passed down from her late grandmother. Including a hairbrush and mirror set That Emily used to recreated a photo her grandmother had taken of her before her wedding. You could feel her spirit all around Emily.. Her something blue pin that was pinned to the bouquet and a gemstone brooch that Ben sported on his suit jacket. Both families have a love for vintage corvettes which they brought as a fun getaway cars  for the couple.

The Big Day

Emily got ready at her parent’s home with her all her girls. She loved spending the day getting pampered and hanging out with her ladies before heading over to the venue. Emily and her MOH went to the venue first to set up for the father daughter first look. She was so excited for her Dad to see her for the first time in her dress. Emily is very close with her family so this moment was extra special for her.

Ben & the guys got ready down the road at Turf Valley & Resorts. The sipped on whiskey and shared some laughs. Ben’s dad brought his vintage corvette car for some fun photo opportunities before the gang headed over to Waverly.

The Ceremony

The ceremony was shot and sweet. Emily said her favorite part of the day was rounding the corner of the aisle to see Ben. She said he looked so calm but so excited at the same time and quote “I truly fell in love with him again in that moment. The whole day was perfect, but I think that moment was my overall favorite.”  After the ceremony ended guest’s headed to cocktail hour to get the party started as the bridal party and newlywed’s enjoyed a fun photo shoot and the couple took some alone time for their portraits that ended right as the sun was setting. Obviously we snagged some amazing sunset photos!

The Reception

The reception was such a blast and Emily really got the party started with her theatrical dancing and big personality. She had the crowd laughing and guests couldn’t help but get up and join in the fun. At the end of the evening guests cleared out so the couple could share one final dance. A nice private intimate moment between the two before they said their goodbyes and headed off in the getaway cars!

Now that they are married the couple is most looking forward The companionship and partnership! Emily stated “We’ve been best friends for years and to know we’ll always have each other is such a comfort. Ben is truly my best friend and my rock. I can’t imagine going through anything- wonderful or horrible- without him right by my side. We’re partners in everything we do and I cannot wait to watch that friendship and partnership continue and grow!”
