A Fall Wedding In The Mountains – Monterey Virginia

Rachel & Chris Tie the Knot | A Fall Wedding in Monterey Virginia

So let’s flashback to a simpler time where we could leave our homes and celebrate everything! Don’t worry we will get there again soon guys. Wedding’s are my absolute favorite and I can’t wait to be back to shooting couples in love celebrating their big day. One of my most favorite seasons to photograph is fall. Fall offers beautiful, rich colors of yellows, reds, and orange. Fall weddings always offer the most romantic vibes. Beautiful views + Fall colors = wedding perfection.

Monterey Virginia-

This past fall I had the pleasure of photographing a gorgeous fall wedding in Monterey Virginia. Monterey is a small town in Highland County, Virginia. This cute town is known for its rich mountain views, maple trees and celebrates fall with festivals for the town. Rachel and Chris tied the knot at Rachel’s family home in Monterey.

The Couple

Rachel and Chris are such a sweet couple. They met at a church event in Florida where they both live. The two are very strong in their faith and share the passion of becoming debt free and helping others to achieve their financial goals. Rachel’s family is originally from Vermont where they started their career in Maple farming. After a few moves they settled down in Monterey which is known for its maple trees and started their new farm in the beautiful mountains of Virginia.

Rachel is a very warm, caring person. She loves her family and friends and made sure they played a big part in her wedding day. Her family worked so hard to get the house and farm ready for the wedding day. Rachel’s parents were so proud and loved sharing their amazing property with everyone. Chris is outgoing and has a big personality. He is very enthusiastic about his passions and his relationships. He was so happy to be marrying his perfect match and sharing the day with all of their loved ones including his mentor for financial freedom. You can tell these two really love each other. The smiles are never ending when they are together and their love is rock solid since they share so many of the same passions.

The Wedding

Family traveled from all over the united states to Maple Ridge Farm to celebrate with the couple. The couple exchanged a romantic first look in an opening in the woods that led to the ceremony site. Chris was sooo happy to see Rachel and his expression was priceless. I think it’s safe to say we all were fighting back tears watching these two. After the first look the couple joined their bridal party for pictures and some down time before the big walk down the aisle. The ladies sported beautiful wine colored dresses and had the most beautiful orange and burgundy florals. The guys rocked black suits and had some fun with matching sunglasses for some pictures. Rachel also brought a fun frame for a prop!

The ceremony was in the peak of the Virginia mountains. It was such a timeless fall backdrop and truly was a beautiful scene. Blankets were offered to the guests. The sun was shining and the day was beautiful but brought crisp fall air. Once the ceremony was over guests headed back to the house where the tables were set with simple fall decor and guests were treated to homemade apple cider and apple sangria. Everyone was also gifted a small bottle of maple syrup from the family’s farm, Maple Farm. The couple shared a spiritual candle lighting with their guests as they said a prayer and everyone stood in the light of the candles. The night was full of games, dancing and laughter until they ended the evening with a sparkler exit. It was the perfect ending to the most perfect day.
